An e-mail received at 8:11 this morning.

Subject: Virgil has moved on to the next life

To all Virgil's friends,
We (Darius and Simas) with heavy heavy hearts relay the news that as of 12:30 am, Tuesday May 18th 2010, our dad and friend, Virgilijus Kaulius is no longer of this earth.  He died of complications related to a heart attack while doing the work he loved in Darcy, BC at the time, and then was air-lifted to Vancouver General Hospital.

We remember he always said he favoured the image of the resurrected Christ rather than the dying Christ.  So we should not think of him as dying, but as rising to heaven at this time.

We, his sons will be flying to Vancouver today.
Details regarding his funeral will be forthcoming via email.
If needed, you can contact us at:

Simas (Simon) Kaulius
skaulius@gmail.com

Darius Kaulius
dkaulius@gmail.com

Please keep him in your prayers.  And keep his sense of humor in your hearts.  He used to say, "If Heaven were so great, why are more people not dying to get there?"

(We shall leave Virgil's default signature on this email, as it is very fitting, Virgil is now with God)

RIP Virgil and wishing you Godspeed to heaven.   We've only met once but have corresponded and "email-sparred" phillosophically for many years.  I will miss those emails and you Virgil.  My condolences to Simas and Darius.

Virgil was one of my truest friends of the last 10 years...     One of the very few among us that dared to share what is right in life.  Although he has been taken home to his kingdom..  May the impression that he left us be carried forward.    I can't count the times he told me..  "Go"  do this or that..    whatever I was passionate about.    And I think it's fair to say..   It's what he wants us all to do.  To move through life accomplishing things that are meaningful to ourselves and our loved ones.    Like I said..  He dared to tell us..  Do the meaningful things in life!  Go Go go!   Smiley    I'm forever grateful for his friendship and acquaintance.   My condolences to his family and friends.     Rest in peace my friend virgil..

Sincerely, John Perry

I'm really sad to hear this. He always greeted me with a big smile every time I saw him, and was one of the people I spoke to the most at parties and gatherings.  He was never short of something to say, and we had a lot of great conversations. The VROM board will be a lot quieter without Virgil. He will definitely be missed.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace,

Good bye Virgil, will be keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Rest well dear friend.

I had a conversion with him the other week in the back lane.
It turned out that we were neighbours.
I heard the mean streak heading down the lane on Saturday.

Very nice man, always, big smile with a even bigger heart.

My condolences to the family. I always liked and respected Virgil, and we had many great discussions about the nature of the universe, and, of course, religion. His knowledge of metaphysics and related subjects was enormous, and I always felt an added connection in that my dad (RIP) was born on the Lithuanian border, not far from where the Kaulius clan was from. RIP.

Virgil, There are things you promised to do that have been left not completed. You and I were to go riding around Delta again and you were supposed to Take Jenny shooting. I guess those things will have to now wait until we join you on the other side. Say "hello" to Bog and Julia for me will you? Your presence here on Earth and on this forum will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to the family left behind.
