DJ Paul is my mechanic, too, and I think he's pretty much the definition of awesome. He's rescued my bike from all sorts of places when it hasn't been running, fixed it for a right bargain and also made sure to show me how things work so that I understand them and also can understand what is/isn't/should be happening.  He won't do or charge for any unnecessary work and especially if cash is a concern, is good about helping prioritize immediate concerns vs. eventual concerns.

I've recommended him to all of my friends and each one calls me when they get their bikes back, astonished at how little they spent and how awesome Paul is.

Some of the things Paul has done to my bike:

New tires
New grips
Replace Choke cable
Sync carbs
Spring tune up

I own a :

1997 ZX6 with 88000 k

1988 Honda Elite 250 with 24000 k

2001 XR 650 with 14000 K

On the ZX6 he did my stearing bearings, fork seals, front brake, front tire, carb sync and a new batterty.

On the Elite, it would start and Idol way to high all the time. Carter quoted me  almost $600 to fix it. Paul had it done for 80 bucks the next day. and showed me what it was.

On the XR, a new head light, and he matched the gas cap key to the ignition.

Three different bikes, all whith a different problems, None of them simple.

There's only one man I'll turn to.

Dj Paul.

He's my bike mechanic and he should be your's too.

Once again Dj Paul comes to the rescue to my 1991 Honda CB 1 400.  He noticed that my front wheel barrings were messed up and pointed the problem out to me.  He explained in detail what the problem was and how to go about fixing it.

I was going away for a couple of days so he scheduled to picked up my bike after I left so that it would not be an inconvenience (as my bike is my only form of transportation).  He not only did the job in the normal Paul excellence but took the time to have a look over the bike in general.  He noticed that the dust covers and the fork seal dust covers were cracked.  While he still had everything open he gave me a call and asked if I wanted to replace them as well.  In the end this saved me a lot of money because if this problem went unnoticed then my fork seals would have needed to be replaced.  One again Dj Paul exceeded expectations.  If that wasn't enough he had my bike back at my house before I got back from my trip.

Just like to let everyone know I let Paul touch my bike.  The guy is very friendly and accomodating to your schedule.  Sure appears he knows is stuff.  Had many opportunities to do work that was not really required yet and he said so.  This would definitely show is honesty and integrity.  He is also very generous in giving advices and telling you how to do the more simple stuff yourself to save yourself some dough.  This would definitely set him appart from any bike shops...

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

After the usual "Modern" experience, Paul is an absolute pleasure to deal with. My '90 Gixxer had electrical issues and a few other bits that needed sorting out. Paul's service was Excellent! He did an amazing job, and I find that the bike is running better than it has in 3 years. He even went the extra mile and replaced some bulbs on the clocks.
Paul delivers exactly what we all want. Expertise and a winning attitude without any arrogance or condecension. He is warm, approachable and exhudes a calm professionalism.
He has definitely won my business (and friendship)!!
Sincere thanks for a job well done!!

I've browsed these forums loads of times; but my First Post has to be for This thread  Cool

If you're from Metro Vancouver and are looking for an independent mechanic who is skilled; honest; affordable; and a heck of a nice guy to boot -- today is your lucky day.

  You found this thread.

I'll post again here with some specific props and cool Paul stories -- but it'll have to wait.  I gotta finish packing the Cub and get rolling.

HOWEVER...  my trip would NOT be happening without Paul pulling through for me this morning; so I HAD to (finally) post here before hitting the road.

Thanks Sensei -- you are the best!  I feel so fortunate that our paths crossed.

Have an awesome weekend everyone.  I hope the memorial ride is awesome. And safe. I'd be joining you if I was around.

Cheers,

Dan

Paul is the Holmes on Homes of bike mechanics.  He does it right the first time.  He stored my bike all winter for $1 a day, when Burnaby Kawasaki wanted to charge me $300 for the same amount of time.  My total bill (including the heated grips he put on for me) was about $150!  Yay!

Paul has been my mechanic for close to 2 years and I won't take my bike anywhere else!  Cheesy

And if I ever have a house with a garage, he's more than welcome to rent it out!  Cheesy

Hi fellow riders,
Just wanted to let you know that I too would like to endorse Paul for the work he did on my VT750. Once the clutch plates came in he assured me the job would get done by Monday and it did. He also torqued my front left bottom cyclinder nut (not that there is anyhthing wrong with that!)which I pointed out had a bit of a leak around the where the gasket was and cleaned the fins. My bike now sings along while cruising around town and on the highway. Thanks again for a job well done Paul.

My CB1 400cc is a very happy bike after Paul worked on it.  Paul walked me through the entire process of how to fix my carbs.  The problem ended up being that high density foam was INSIDE my carbs.  NO idea how it got there.  On top of Paul having unending patience with my lack of experience and knowledge...he happily answered all of my questions.  In addition to all of that, he always examines the entire bike to make sure that I will ride safe.  He noticed that my rear brakes pads were nearly worn to the metal and took extra time to show me how to change them.  Thanks Paul.

Yet again, Paul is the shizznit!

After being told by a certain Honda store in Vancouver that if I hadn't put new tires on my bike they weren't going to release it to me because the bike was 'unsafe' I went to Paul...

...and the mechanic god that he is (okay, that might have gone a bit far, I mean, we don't want his head to get too big here!  Tongue ) got a set of Diablo's put on (brand spankin' new front and one spank away from being that new on the back) and installed them while he we chatted, had lunch, and he told me the things that would need to be fixed shortly.

Thanks again Paul - you're the best!

I'm a little late commenting on here, but I also wanted to put my 2 cents in.

Although I do most of my repairs myself on my bikes, DJ Paul has helped me with my 2003 FJR1300.
Minor stuff but still he helped. Fixed a lock on one of the luggage box's. Replaced the grips and mostly help me show the bike to potential buyers. I live in Langley and I felt totally comfortable leaving my bike with Paul for weeks. Having him ride it around town and display it on different locations in Vancouver.

I've sold other bikes with Paul's help but I've still got the FJR for sale, so if your interested please call or PM me.

However if you are looking for a solid bike mechanic who takes the time to additional to the repairs explain you things and show you how they work go get Paul's number and bring your bike to him. Your precious baby will be well taken care of.  :!:

Not to mention that he's a great man, that I've the pleasure to be friends with since 2001 and he might just turn into one of your closest friends and ridding buddies.  Cool

Cheers

Robert

P.S. Paul do you work on two stroke engines? My dads leafblower acts funny and I have no idea what it could be.

I feel so fortunate to have been directed to paul m when I bought my old 83 Nighthawk last September, after a 35 year riding hiatus.  He's done and  fixed so much,  (brakes, carbs, forks, electrics, heated grips)and saved me so much hassle that I have continued to love riding as never before.  (Just bought an 06 599 today, and will take it to dj as soon as the weather prevents me from riding  this total joy of a bike.

A great guy-so refreshing after encountering some of the surly grumps in the mc business in Van.

Honest, reasonable, patient( with novices like me), real smart and....POSITIVE!
