To bad not to many people remember Ethan.

That was my first ride where someone I knew didn't make it.  That was a long night on the sea to sky, waiting for the police and the interviews and everything.

You were on that ride?  I think Seb was as well... not sure who else.

Hi Karen,

welcome back to VROM. Most people are on facebook nowadays and dont seem to come back here anymore.

I think Stephen might have been there as well when Ethans accident happened. For sure Bog and Julia were there.

Bieu... do you hear an echo??... anyone one out there??..... Hello?

What about hanging out at the back of the Swan for bbqs in the early days?  You were at some of these weren't you?  You and Jody?
I have an old pic somewhere that Peter took when we did the Cascade Loop.  There was Bog, Julia, Ethan and myself.  If I come across it, I will try and post it.
k
Welcome back Karen! Yes, there are still people out here. Unfortunately, we recently lost one of our most prolific posters; Virgil.
Sorry to hear that you & Peter are divorcing... seems to be an epidemic! I believe the N. American statistic is well over the 50% mark for divorces.

How can we re-kindle the "family" that Julia and Bog created?

I haven't seen Bieu on here for a long time! Welcome back to Bieu too!

Thanks Robert... thanks, Paul.

Not sure I'm really 'back'.  I signed up to say hello to Tim and see who else was about.  Only car riding for me.  Haven't been on a bike since the accident in 2002 and would prefer it to stay that way.  Facebook?  Ugh.  I rarely visit there.  Such a time sponge!

Paul, I don't think we can ever go back.  The family was ever evolving though the years.  The key players have gone... and some unfortunately for good.  People move on... things don't stay the same.

P and I have been apart for 4 years now!  Wow... time flies.  You too are dealing with the big D.  That's life...heh?  We have to move forward.

Last time I saw Stephen he was in hospital with a broken back.  That was some time ago now.  I caught up with Leigh-Anne at that time as well.  Met up with Bieu to talk about the good old days recently.  Anyone know where Seb went to?

Sure, you are back, Karen. You came to the VROM site, so you are here! My bike has been parked almost continuously for several years, so it is not actually a requirement that one rides to participate here on the forum.

Things are always changing, and we cannot go back to what was, but we can create new things. Sometimes even better than the old. In biological families, new generations are born and old generations die, but that doesn't mean the remainder of the family needs to disband and go their own ways! The same applies here for our VROM family. As long as we continue to support and care for one another, one would hope that a family-like atmosphere would evolve.

You're a dreamer.  Tongue

The old family is gone and they're not coming back together.  I think sometimes it's best to leave things to memory.  I really won't be spending much time here Paul.

I guess I am a dreamer.  Smiley  But it is from dreams that new things are born.

Perhaps, like so many of us, you have drifted away from the group Karen.  Remember though, that each and every person of the almost 550 members has had some influence on all of us.  Some more than others, to be sure ... but we are all a little different than we might otherwise be, had we not been part of the VROM, ridden with, chatted to or just logged on and read comments.

Life evolves and we move on but our experiences are forever a part of us.

Yes, I'm kind of nostalgic to think of what was and perhaps, what could have been ....  But I'm glad for the interaction I've had with all of you.  Can it continue?  Should it continue?  Who knows?  The GVMC is approaching its 90th Anniversary .... it is a dynamic group that is constantly changing over the years with old members moving on and new ones joining in.  None of the charter members are still here, of course ... but their influence is.  And the thousands of friendships cannot be forgotten.

When this forum platform was changed, a great deal of time and effort was put into switching the historical posts so the the history might be preserved.  I've often gone back to those earlier days to reminice in the old postings.

Yes, you're quite correct Karen, the past is gone but the memories linger.

Nicely stated, Hawk. Thanks for the support.

Hey Tim,
If you are still around on here, just wanted to say what's up dude!
I remember riding with you, you were always doing wheelies!
I also remember you telling me you were leaving for Alberta, we were at Starbucks
on Robson.
Anyways, I moved back to Montreal where I came from, back in April 2004 before
Bog and Julia passed away.
I then went back in 2008 for Julia's memorial ride and rode Robert's FJR,
It was awesome to see the gang again and pay respects to Bog and Julia.
I plan on going back for another ride next year.
Take care and wish you the best!

Sorry Robert,
I had no choice, I could not remember my pw for Ducanti and then when I asked for a new pw,
it did not recognize my e-mail address.
I think that's because it was my old e-mail address at my old job which I no longer have access to.
So I had to create a new user id with a new pw.
Okay cool I will look them up on facebook, do you know what is Tim's and Gurp's last name?
Cheers,
Denis
